Steve/Tony
57,722 words
When Howard Stark demands Tony work at a dig site in S.America one summer to "build character" and "learn about life", Tony is furious. But then he meets soldier/archeologist Steve and falls in love with blue eyes and a perfect smile. Just as they are ready to move forward together, Steve leaves abruptly with no explanation and breaks Tonys heart.
Ten years later, Tony stumbles across the file for the old dig site. He's determined to visit and shut it down, but discovers that instead of a village, the dig has unconvered a temple and actually needs MORE money to stay open. A security team is hired to protect the staff and the artifacts they find, and Tony comes face to face with Steve Rogers all over again– except Steve is bearded and BIGGER and way more dangerous than he used to be...And Tony likes it.
When the camp is attacked, Steve jumps into action, snatching Tony and running into the jungle to escape and work their way towards safety.
But long days and nights together bring back old feelings, and one day Steve takes a risk and asks Tony to give them another chance.
Will Tony say yes? Or is his heart buried too far for the soldier-turned- archaeologist-turned-mercenary to find it?

Fourteen-year-old Tony Stark finds Captain America's broken radio in his father's safe and decides to repair it. It works, because of course it does, he fixed it, after all, and he gets to talk to a group of soldiers who can't share much about what they are doing, which is fine by Tony because while it is true that he is technically a student at MIT, he maybe wasn't entirely upfront about everything. This presents a problem when he develops feelings--okay, fine, a massive crush--on one of the soldiers.

Maria calls him in a panic, freaking out in the middle of the night and that’s how he ends up outside of MIT looking for Tony. Its the first time he’s seen him in a decade and it turns out he’s not too hard to spot because he’s got a bright personality, the kind that draws people in or maybe he’s biased. Tony seems to notice him at almost the same time and he grins, immediately shoving his books into the poor kid’s arms beside him and running over to him. Bucky doesn’t expect Tony to launch himself at him but he catches him nonetheless.
“Bucky!” Tony says excitedly, arms circling around his neck.

Gil becomes increasingly unsure Malcolm gets anything he needs. The kid hardly eats, hardly sleeps, and the visits to his father make him jittery and unstable in ways that gnaw at Gil like a junkyard dog going at a bone. He never should’ve involved Malcolm in all this. Then again, isn’t it better to be able to keep an eye on him?
Today’s problem is he’d needed to haul Malcolm back by the scruff of the neck when he got too close to a suspect, and just like that time when he’d watched Malcolm get thrown to the mat, there’s no doubt the kid got off on it, just a little. Maybe not even consciously.
